Andrew studied trumpet at Churchlands Senior High
School from the age of twelve, and performed with various ensembles
through the school. Andrew joined the Forrest music academy after leaving
high school, until joining Armadale City Concert Band in the early 90’s
and then Smooth. Andrew has contributed to the horn section of Smooth,
lending his ‘smooth’ trumpet tone to the mix.
Sarah Bednarek
Sarah first studied alto saxophone at the age
of thirteen, at Roleystone District High School, then at Kelmscott Senior
High School from the age of sixteen. Sarah completes the Smooth horn
section with her excellent alto playing.
Ashley Ruck
Ashley started studying guitar at the age of
twelve, under the guidance of Bryce. Ashley joined Smooth with his
father, Martin, and gives Smooth its powerful rhythm guitar section. Ashley
has developed his improvisational skills in Smooth, capturing the essence
of the music Smooth plays in his imaginative solos.
